— HOW IT WORKS —

Making the Most of Every Jewel

What actually happens when you upgrade — and how to stop wasting jewels

How upgrading actually works

Every jewel is used from the upgrade window of an item you already own: right-click it, pick the jewel, confirm. If it works, the item's level goes up by one step; if it fails, nothing is added — but the jewel is spent either way, so only risk what you can afford to lose.

Not every jewel carries the same risk. Jewel of Bless raises an item's level for free up to a guaranteed point, no roll involved. Past that point, Jewel of Soul takes over, and the success rate shown above is what actually decides the outcome — it can differ depending on how upgraded the item already is, so check the table before committing a jewel to a high-level piece.

The simplest rule: burn through the guaranteed Bless range first, since it costs nothing but the jewel. Only start rolling Soul once you're past it, and treat every attempt as a real bet, not a formality.

Luck: the option that changes your odds

If the item you're upgrading has the Luck option, your odds with Jewel of Soul go up — the exact bonus is shown above, and it applies automatically the moment you use the jewel, no extra step needed.

If your item doesn't have Luck yet, Jewel of Life (above) is what adds or upgrades an item's additional option — but the roll isn't guaranteed to land on Luck, so treat it as a chance, not a shortcut.

Decide before you start: a Luck item is worth pushing hard with Soul, since every roll benefits from the bonus. A plain item is usually better left at its guaranteed Bless range, or fed into Chaos Machine combinations instead of gambled further.

Where Chaos, Creation and Guardian fit

Jewel of Chaos is a different track entirely — it feeds Chaos Machine combinations for wings and pets, not an item's level directly. If you're saving jewels for a specific wing or mount, check the exact recipe on the Chaos Machine page first, since recipes change.

Jewel of Creation and Jewel of Guardian are rarer, mostly from bosses and events, and are meant for higher-tier combinations. Since they're harder to replace, it's worth confirming what a combination needs on the Chaos Machine page before committing one.

The order that wastes the least: guaranteed Bless first, Soul once you're past it (ideally on a Luck item), Harmony for items with special options, and Chaos/Creation/Guardian saved for the specific combination you're going for.
